Rebates for Home Battery Systems starting on 1 July 2025

The Australian Government has announced the Cheaper Home Batteries program which will start in July this year. The program will provide a discount of around 30% off the price of an installed eligible battery up to 100kWh in capacity, in on-grid and off-grid sites.

Discussing new Queensland microgrids under development

Microgrids are local energy networks that are able to operate connected to the grid but can continue to operate if there is a network outage in island mode. A microgrid consists of a number of Distributed Energy Resources (DER), sometimes called Community Energy Resources (CER) such as solar power systems and storage along with back-up generators if required.

Changes to planning laws for wind farms

The Queensland Government has changed planning laws to increase the level of community consultation required for all wind farms effective 3 February 2025. The Government has been working on a Renewable Energy Regulatory Framework to ensure the planning system keeps up with the rapid growth in renewable energy projects.
